In Ruyigi Province Ruyigi commune Kigamba hill, Dutabarane through its project Saving Association Expansion “SAE” , mobilized the population through the Participatory Integrated Local Development Approach, encouraging them to find solutions to the problems they have in their community without waiting for any support from abroad. They noticed that they had problem of a long distance reaching the market.
They joined forces together and renovated their market “CENTRE DE NEGOCE” which had been in bad shape and inactive since 1993, people were distributing goods and there were no customers that why it closed.
Now VSLA members are organizing and arranging loans in their savings and loan groups to have small capital that allows them to start different small businesses. This helps them earn money to save and be able to cover their families' expenses.
